Superior communication via electronic channels won my business. Shopping for a car with specific options forced me to extend my range and Burlington was 200 miles away. Working with various dealers “virtually” Kristin at Shearer was very responsive on phone, email and text and ultimately sold me a car while waiting to hear back from other dealers who didn’t make me a priority. This was by far the best car buying experience I have had--Kristin continues to be the best after point of sale. I am a VW person, and the Shearer team facilitated a great trade and purchase of my 2017 Golf R. Even though I live in north central NH I will service and buy any vehicles there. The staff at the service center are also a joy. You get a Modern, sophisticated yet friendly atmosphere right when you walk in, and I’m always in love with my new car when I leave. After an unfortunate incident, we needed to replace our vehicle. We knew exactly what we wanted and reached out to Shearer VW to purchase. As someone who has worked in the automobile industry, and has also purchased many cars in my lifetime, I know how painful this process can ultimately (and needlessly!) be. We were so fortunate to have dealt with Kristin Thayer. Kristin was fantastic right from the start, initially ensuring the vehicle that we wanted was on site, and even sending a walk-around video confirming it had the options we were seeking. We coordinated a time to meet, and without fail, our paperwork was handled smoothly and professionally. She spent extra time with my wife to be certain it was everything she wanted, and also masterfully kept our 2-children-under-2 entertained in the meantime. Follow up after the sale has been phenomenal as well, with her sending helpful tips and tricks on getting the most out of our VW ownership. I can't recommend Shearer, or more particularly, Kristin enough. We couldn't be more pleased.

I recently purchased a Gulf Sport Alltrak manual from Shearer VW. My salesperson was Keegan Flynn. I drove up from Saratoga Springs NY on a Friday Night in poor weather. The team was ready for me. I test drove, traded in my car, talked financing, and warranties and was out before 7:00. Keegan prepared my sales quote and was waiting for me when I arrived. The price agreed upon was what we negotiated over the phone and email. Keegan did not pressure me in any way as I did a full comparison shop within the VW dealers in the Capital District and beyond. Keegan waited past closing to ensure that I understood the inner workings and I was comfortable with my purchase, he even took off my roof racks from my trade in. The finance manager was extremely thorough and in addition kept the credit and warranty meeting brief as he being considerate of my time. From this experience I would recommend Shearer VW and Keegan Flynn to any potential customer. Thanks again Shearer.

My wife's 2000 Beetle Turbo finally bit the dust this week. After looking around online, we drove the 40 miles to Shearer VW to look at their lineup of Certified VW Golf TDIs (a turbo and 6-speed were mandatory). Expecting to be descended upon by a horde of used car salesmen (in the worst connotation of the word), we were instead greeted on the lot by a smiling Kristin Thayer. She asked if we had any questions, then encouraged us to look around and come inside to find her if we wanted to drive one or needed further help. No pressure! We walked down the line of cars and back, and there she was again, smiling! After taking one for a spin with her, we were hooked on both the car and on dealing with Kristin and Shearer VW. Not really intending to buy a car that day, we nonetheless went inside, sat down with her and discussed price a bit. All I want from a car dealer is to quote a price that's fair to me and fair to them (realizing that they have to stay in business), and to not be double- and triple-teamed by managers. Kristin whispered that the car we wanted had a significant price reduction online, so we happily did the deal. Shane Kelley was also friendly, professional and helpful in explaining financing and warranty options and walking us through the paperwork. We took delivery this morning and Kristin showed us every aspect of controls and operation, and was able to capably answer all questions we had. Kristin Thayer has renewed our faith in auto salespeople. Friendly, honest, knowledgeable and helpful (and a nice firm handshake), working with her was a delight. We enjoyed the process and had a few laughs, feel we got a good deal, and my wife loves the car... what more could we want?

They tried everything to get my car computer synchronized with the replacement radio, but unfortunately the radio part number was wrong. This was the fault of my Canadian dealer. But here, during all the hard work, they kept us posted of what was going on, the problems and so on. So for that, kudos to all the great service department.

I had nothing but a great experience with Shearer VW in South Burlington. My father in law brought me here because his wife had just recently gotten her lease here with Kristen Thayer. She was amazing. I found what I liked no problem. They have a great selection for whatever your needs. I needed a vehicle in a hurry and they got me all set up and I drove away with my brand new lease the next day. I even brought my dogs and in Kristen played with them in her office while I signed the paperwork. The people here are incredibly accommodating and friendly. We went over the ins and outs of my new car. So many great features! I never thought a car buying experience could be so easy.

I had stopped by the dealership back in May to *just look* at the new GTIs, knowing very well, when I was ready that was going to be my new car. As I peered into the window of one, a nice girl walked by and asked if I needed help with anything. I told her I was just looking at my future car and was not ready to buy anything, but thought it might be fun to take it out for a test drive. Without hesitation she said, let’s go! Four months later I was ready to pull the trigger and went right back to Kristin. She was super easy to work with, attentive, not pushy, and just an all around cool gal. I came to Shearer Volkswagen because I needed to get a car for my new job - as a recent college graduate with no US credit history that was in the US on a visa, I was certainly not the ideal customer for leasing a car and I was skeptical that any dealership would be able to get me approved by their credit department. If I could give them a 6th Star .. I would! I was car shopping and researching for 3 weeks when I contacted them. Jerry immediately got back to me, set up a time that worked for me. We had two test drives in a rainstorm. He answered all my questions. I was able to take the car home for my husband to see. Jerry was even willing to come in on his day off ( the next day). I kept the car for two days. My husband and a friend brought it back. My husband was very pleased with the ease and Speediness of the negotiations. This was not true of our other two sets of negotiations at two big dealers. We live a good 90 minutes away . We will be lifelong patrons of Shearer Volkswagen!!!

Had a great experience this past weekend at shearer. I never felt pressured or played. I felt like they genuinely listened to what we were looking for. We worked with Paul and he was very honest and open with us. We ended up buying a used car, which was actually my dream car! I walked in cold to the dealership in need of a car. My expectations were blown out of the water! From the moment that I walked in the door it never felt that Kevin was "selling" me a car but rather helping me find what I was looking for and supported me through the process. He listened to all of the requirements that I had for a car and efficiently narrowed down the search to the perfect car for my family. Kevin was detail oriented with the specifics of the car and was very knowledgeable of the Volkswagen brand. Overall the atmosphere in the dealership was laid back, personable and professional, but Kevin was above and beyond what I would ever want in a "brand specialist." Paul was a great guy to work with and VERY knowledgeable about your product. He listened to our request of must haves and we were able to drive away with a 2018 VW Tiguan. My experience with Shearer VW was awesome. Kristin was my salesperson and she really took the time to learn who I was as a person and what my needs were for a vehicle. I had been shopping for a couple months for a new vehicle with mixed results on whether the dealership actually cared what I was looking for or if they just wanted another sale. By the time the deal was complete, Kristin made me feel like I was talking to an old friend rather than a salesperson. The whole experience from the initial contact to the details of the final deal was great and I ended up with a deal significantly better than I thought possible. I would definitely recommend Shearer when looking for a new car. I will definitely start there when I am in the market for our next vehicle.

Can't say enough good things about my sales experience. I had been shopping around for a new car for about a month. I had missed out on a car I wanted to test drive due to timing and an unfortunate snowstorm. When I showed up a week later and without an appointment. I have NEVER had a better experience buying a new car! Kristin Thayer was AMAZING from our first communication over the phone, then texts, and finally our appointment with my kids in tow. After contacting multiple VW dealers throughout New England in search of my ideal and very specific VW Golf TDI, I was thrilled that I found it right here at home in VT. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better than this, I was even more appreciative of the absolutely most professional, knowledgeable, polite salesman with a great sense of humor, Paul Hatfield. Despite doing my homework in advance on equipment, safety ratings and reviews on this model and feeling fairly knowledgeable, Paul blew me away with how much he knew about this car, from technical specs, to the VW Golf ratings by various reviewers and magazines. Not only this but he was a straight shooter from the get go. Paperwork was not the typical lengthy and painful ordeal it often is with many dealers here either; Paul communicated with Megan in finance and they had everything ready quickly so the least fun part of buying a car was smooth, swift and painless, even cutting our credit union rates in half with VW finance! Big savings for us! Immediately after, Paul gave me a tutorial of every option in the car, even pairing my cell phone for me to the car, saving me the torture of learning new technology alone later. Staff were all very friendly, downright happy and knowledgeable (almost makes me look forward to service visits!). One salesman had a gentle large dog sleeping beside his desk who lost a leg to cancer. As a humanitarian and dog lover with 4 rescues ourselves, this speaks volumes of Shearer regarding their caring, concern and efforts to create a happy and safe environment for staff, customers and even their furry kids. I often question “too good” reviews, but I assure you, this is honestly and exactly how our transaction took place and couldn’t be more excited about our new car, the entire experience, company and particularly our salesman. If you stop in, ask for Paul Hatfield for a truly pleasant buying experience!

Tom offered me a variety of trim and year options and gave me the chance to consider everything without pressure. After buying, Tom was very responsive as I followed up with questions & returned to pick up paperwork. Bought our second Jetta from Shearer VW yesterday. The best experience I've had in all these years of purchasing cars. Jerry Fisher (our main contact), Ryan (manager) and Megan (business manager) were outstanding in their service and attention. Probably few enough of us like buying a car ... I'm no different. While shopping for a new car via the web, I contacted five different dealerships with the same list of 10 questions. All straightforward and all simple factors (price, availability, configuration) that would influence my final purchasing decision. Not only was getting a straight answer difficult, but getting answers to all the questions was a challenge ... UNTIL I found Paul Hatfield at Shearer VW. Paul answered everything within 2 hours even thought that required a bit of research. He had a clear price, good advice and by the end of the day, we had a deal. The paperwork was ready in advance, the second set of tires was already in the car, and Paul was ready with a crash course. The car was exactly as described. The service (both Sales and Finance) was exceptional and it was a great drive home thanks the folks at Shearer VW. I still don't like buying new cars, but dealerships like Shearer VW make it a much easier and positive experience.

I purchased a 2016 Tiguan this week from Shearer. It was a very positive experience. Eric McClaren sold the Tiguan to me. Eric was professional, patient, polite and well-informed about VWs. It was a pleasure to do business with him. If I could give the team at Shearer VW of South Burlington more stars, I absolutely would. From my first couple of emails through my test drive and eventual purchase, this team was hands down one of the most warm-hearted and professional groups I have encountered. When I arrived to test drive the vehicle and go through the numbers, Keegan Flynn greeted me with a big smile and open mind. He went through all of the vehicle specifics with me and answered my numerous (bordering on the line of 20+) questions without batting an eye. After leaving to consider the vehicle overnight, I came up with an additional umpteen questions and corresponded with Keegan via email. He was quick and clear in his responses and was as kind in his first email as he was in my ~15th email which is certainly saying something. The vehicle I was looking at was on the highest end (maybe even outside) of my budget, but Keegan brought in Ryan McCrea, one of the managers, and both of them worked with me to get the best deal possible. When I went in to complete the purchase, everyone was cheerful and excited. It was a busy afternoon for sales, so the whole team worked to get me in and out as quickly as possible. I brought in my current leased vehicle, not expecting that we could work out a trade, but Ryan exceeded my expectations and was able to work with me to get out of my lease early and into my new (to me) VW. Not only that, he sat down and went through the signing process with me himself since there were a few others waiting to complete their sales as well and he didn’t want me to have to wait around.
